I saw a wild beaver for the first time last month, and tomorrow I will see a friend who has a resident beaver on his property, so I guess that beavers were on my mind….
May or may not be practical as a spoon, but the tail is large enough to be used as a small server or nut bowl

Barred Owl
Another Owl sighting -
This guy had a snake in his talons, and got tired of being watched.
He flew off and I nearly got a great sequence of the take-off.

This guy moved back and forth around me as I explored Sisal Pond.
I was not trying to disturb him, but it seemed that wherever I was headed, he was there.
He’d see me and fly off, then we would bump into each other again ten minutes later.

I spent ten minutes watching a Great Blue Heron wrestling a fish into it’s mouth.
A park ranger in the Everglades assured us that he would eventually swallow it, but it might take awhile…..

I keep the camera in the shop now and grab shots of my “officemates” if I get a chance. This one keeps working a Mulberry tree which I girdled a couple of years ago; It is maybe eight feet from the window.

A beautiful day to be out. Saw TWELVE bears. Yes, 12.
Five separate encounters, all of the good memory/bad picture variety. Two males, three sows, seven cubs.
