The walnut for this one-of-a-kind bowl came from one of Leigh’s logs. Leigh being the farmer I work with occasionally and whom I assisted in timbering several large Black Walnut trees which he needed to remove. The piece was one of the first slices which the sawyer cut off of the log in order to square it up for milling. Normally it would have been added to the burn pile, but I saw something in it. I was not sure what that something was at that moment, but I knew that there was something. After a year-and-a-half this bowl “emerged” from that slice.
This piece has been purchased for a private collection, but custom orders for carved bowls are welcome. Each one will, needless to say, be entirely unique. Contact me to discuss a custom designed piece.
