Another in my series of simple end or side tables featuring an uncommon wood. In this case the wood is Curly Yellow Birch from Central Pennsylvania. The central panel is surrounded by thick pieces of Maple with bits of figure and a few sawyer’s marks.
Maple legs and framing. Also ideal for use as a display pedestal or stand. While not designed as such, it is sturdy enough to use as a stool if one wished. The top is has gaps all the way around to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction.
This table is part of the Dean End Tables series. On Flickr, you may see this piece referred to as ”Yellow Dean.” The first time I do a design, I often name it after a customer. Then later variations will continue to carry that name. ”Yellow Dean” is a variation on a commission I did a while back and have continued to explore over time.
