Wood as Art

I believe that a piece of wood, in and of itself, can be considered Art. This notion was reinforced when I ran across this gently curving plank of Walnut. The rings reminded me of Saturn, or of a distorted solar system.

After I shaped it, though, I had trouble finding the best way to present it. Simply framed on a wall didn't feel right. Neither did a bench or tabletop.

Then I finally found it; stand it off from the wall to make it pop out. Leave one side smooth, and one side rough.
